Damn. Seriously...damn.

I would suggest to Clr. Whitehead that he should begin by reframing his views toward this issue. His position of Councilor is not his "job". When he compares the term limit issue to the jobs of ordinary people, it is very telling of the way he thinks of his work. He has a "role" as a public servant, who serves at the pleasure of the public. He does not have a "job". It is not a "career" nor should it be. It is a public service.

I think each councillor should be asked the same question, as it will be a fascinating expose of their sense of entitlement.

I believe that The Hamiltonian and others should really consider proposing a referundum. I also think that your friends at The Spec, CHML and wherever, need to get onboard or otherwise become irrelevant and out of touch with the real people of Hamilton.

Keep up the good work Teresa and crew. I will be interested to hear your official opinion of this issue at some point.

I'm sorry, but Holy fuckolee

I'm just...gobsmacked.

Yes, it most certainly is his 'job'. It's his livelihood, it's his vocation, it's his means of putting a roof over his and his family's head...

It's his job. A word that for you, seems to conjure up notions of drudgery, of resentfulness of having to serve out a 'sentence'. And yet all your favourite athletes, all your favourite writers, favourite actors, etc, they all have jobs. I'd be curious as to why you seem so stuck on this word.

Good Lord. I know I can be accused of pontificating, but this is a bit much. It's a job, Sorce. For some, it's a 'career'...a career in public service, which despite your mindset, is not a pejorative term.

I think each councillor should be asked the same question, as it will be a fascinating expose of their sense of entitlement.

There is no 'entitlement' going on here, Sorce. You're part of a disgruntled group of commenters who feel bitter and cynical towards their Council...and probably have for years...and yet seem to be labouring under an enormous burden of misconceptions.

I believe that The Hamiltonian and others should really consider proposing a referundum. I also think that your friends at The Spec, CHML and wherever, need to get onboard or otherwise become irrelevant and out of touch with the real people of Hamilton.

Given that there are apparently no municipalities in all of Canada with term limits, you're barking up the wrong tree.

As for your last comment: how about we focus on the 'real people of Hamilton' that don't vote? The 60% of eligible voters who don't care one way or the other who gets in. Maybe you should take some of your enmity and animosity and direct it towards the real problem, the reason that so many commenters get rabid about term limits.

I'm always interested in feedback, differing opinions, even contrarian blasts...as long as they're delivered with decorum...with panache and flair always helping.
