Oh, good Lord...there's more...

I think I might have to once again wade into the murky waters (for some, anyway) of 'How The Retail Landscape Has Changed, And Why Parking Meters Aren't The Villain'.

In the meantime, another one of Mr. Robertson's letters.

  1. Well the Parking Meters have been voted away to the corn feild thanks to all the letters people wrote in about the lack of community due to parking meters. Its about community and anyhting one can do to save their community. Also its about business right or wrong trying to keep the spirit alive and the community intact. This time the letters helped get the message across and Brad Clark is a hero o fstoney creek and waterdown to keep the parking meter pressue on until the vote and victory small as it may be the public has spoken.

  2. Well, no, it's not all about 'community', at least not in this case. The decision to put in meters was an ill-advised governmental one, all things considered, but really, if the community wants to do something about Downtown Stoney Creek, it should be applying pressure to all and sundry to actually do some revitalization. Pressure on the current landowners. Pressure on the Stoney Creek News to actually focus on this sad tale, especially the aspect of the monopolization of Municipal Lot #3 by the Medical Arts building and its patrons. And pressure on the Development department at City Hall to get some stimulus money in there. If nothing is done, it's going to be a real embarrassment next year for the 200th anniversary of The Battle of Stoney Creek...when there's no downtown for people to visit.

Downtown Stoney Creek's woes has never been about paid-parking.

I'm always interested in feedback, differing opinions, even contrarian blasts...as long as they're delivered with decorum...with panache and flair always helping.
