One has to wonder...doesn't one?

I've been a longtime reader of Cal DiFalco's 'The Hamiltonian'. I like what they do there. (I say 'they', because honestly, I'm a bit confused as to what it is that Cal actually contributes these days. But that's for another editorial.) 'The Hamiltonian' has a mandate, a style, and a readership that's entirely different from mine...and that of 'Raise The Hammer', Ryan McGreal's site, for that matter.

What Cal does is take an issue...usually linked to externally-generated material...and throw it out to his/their readers for comments. What Ryan does is provide central gathering point for like-minds...and those disparate voices either game enough, masochistic enough or intelligent enough (I prefer to think that it's usually all three qualities) to withstand the inevitable -and near-instant- downvoting of these disparately voiced opinions, after generating a ton of material himself, as well as publishing stuff from a great cadre of contributing writers, and therefore has all kinds of discussions going on at any given time. Me? I just yammer on all by my lonesome.

Recently, with the José Pablo Bustamante 'press conference' and papers filed against the incumbent in Ward 10, Maria Pearson, there's been...

...well, there's been an 'unusual' amount of 'coverage' of Mr. Bustamante at 'The Hamiltonian'.

I should point out that though Cal's site is called 'The Hamiltonian', he in fact lives in 'East Hamilton'.

More accurately, 'East Stoney Creek'.

More precisely, 'Fruitland'.

So, in Ward 10. (Or 11, I'm not sure, because one side of Fruitland Road is in Ward 10, Ms Pearson's, and the other side is in Ward 11, Dave Mitchell's.)

It is no secret that Mr. DiFalco (and his wife) have locked horns with Ms Pearson over the years, with the Fruitland Road Truck Traffic Dilemma at the core of their...'differences'. In fact, The Stoney Creek News has featured many a Letter To The Editor from the DiFalco family in recent times, so they're reasonably 'high-profile'. (Meaning I'm not giving away any secrets here.)

I'm presenting all this because I'm rather curious why Mr. DiFalco has felt it necessary to continually 'bump up' the coverage of Mr. Bustamante's gambit to the extent that he has...especially seeing that, at the time of this post's writing, nothing had appeared in online versions of The Spec or The Stoney Creek News. (As I've stated elsewhere, I was there at the 'press conference', along with a reporter from both these publications...and their mutual response to what was being revealed seemed one of 'Huh...?' Not that you should quote me on that.)

So why does Mr. DiFalco 'seem' to feel (as Publisher remember, no matter who's generating the material) it a priority to keep pushing Mr. Bustamante and his legal gambit up to the front of the queue?

I'd ask him directly, but Mr. DiFlaco seems to have dropped off the face of the earth where it comes to responding to emails....even the sincere ones. :P

Maybe his taking up residency in Communicado is attributable to the stress of having to garner so many opportunities for his readers to sound off as eloquently as they're prone to doing. But then...he does have a staff of five working for him...

Hmm...

I'm always interested in feedback, differing opinions, even contrarian blasts...as long as they're delivered with decorum...with panache and flair always helping.
