Future Fund… for the record How soon people forget. The Future Fund was established by the sale of not only Hamilton Hydro, but hydro utilities from Ancaster to Stoney Creek.
On July 1, 2000, the five municipal electric utilities in the former Region of Hamilton-Wentworth — Ancaster, Dundas, Flamborough, Hamilton and Stoney Creek Hydro-Electric Commissions — were amalgamated and transformed into the new multi-service company.
So the money available to the Future Fund was generated by the sale of investment from all parts of the community. These assets were part of the dowry handed over to the amalgamated city. That’s something the Future Fund board of directors should contemplate when denying investment for the east Mountain, formerly in the City of Stoney Creek.
Oi vey.

Actually, Mark...no.
That's not something they need to contemplate when considering an asshat notion like building a 'driveway-to-driveway', 20th century, suburban stadium. They just need to consider how hilarious it is in the context of modern, forward-thinking planning.
Once again, I need to ask: how old are you? Sixty?
Hush your mouth son, on that "Sixty' business. :D
ReplyDeleteIt's not how old you are, it's how stuck you are in the past that makes people say things like that.
LMAO
ReplyDeleteOK... I consider myself chastened...although it takes more than a polite request to 'hush my mouth' to actually effect that result.
You're right though, it's not how old Mr. Cripps is that matters. It's that sense of stodginess, of blinkered thinking, of... Of retreat into a position of safety.
Change is organic. Adaptation is organic. Life is organic. Mr. Cripps' views often seem the opposite of these notions.
I'm just sayin'...
